Once you turn off Highway 5 onto the Tod Mountain Road approaching Sun Peaks, you cannot help but let the whispering pines, open meadows and calming scenery absorb the stress of day to day life. You will feel your shoulders lower, your breathing deepen, and your heart open.

The peaceful and intimate village of Sun Peaks will welcome you as you turn the final corner and arrive at the Hearthstone and Fireside Lodges, ready to relax and remember the reasons that getaways like this are so important. Spend the day in the great outdoors – summer or winter, Sun Peaks has a variety of activities available for visitors. Enjoy an afternoon stroll through the pedestrian village, go for an evening walk beside a mountain stream or snowshoe crystalline trails, relax in an outdoor hot-tub, dine at one of our elegant on-site restaurants, or simply curl up in front of your fireplace with a bottle of wine.

Ski and Snowboard:

The champagne powder is what it’s all about! With over 2000 hours of sunshine a year, 881 meters of vertical, vast open bowls, 12 lifts, and over 5 ½ meters of some of the best snow in B.C., Sun Peaks is a premier ski and board destination. Selected in 2005 as the early season training site for the Austrian Ski Team enroute to the 2010 Olympics and the three mountains and 121 runs that make up the 2nd largest skiable terrain in B.C. are world class. There is something here for everyone, beginner to expert – 10% green or “novice” runs, 58% blue or “intermediate”, and 32% black diamond or “expert” runs. Located within 2 minutes walk of the Hearthstone and Fireside Lodges, the Sun Peaks Sports School offers both day care services as well as ski and snowboard lessons to ensure that your entire family is able to make the most of your time on the hill.

Cross-country skiing, also known as nordic skiing, is another great winter activity. Over 28 km of track-set trails lead from the main entrances to the Hearthstone and Fireside Lodges.

Extreme Mountain Biking:

Mountain biking is one of the fastest growing sports in North America. The Sun Peaks area boasts some of the best and most diverse off-road terrain in British Columbia, from single track desert riding to the adrenaline rush of high speed alpine downhill riding.
A stay at the Hearthstone or Fireside Lodge provides quick access to one of B.C.’s top bike parks. What makes it great? Amongst other things, the Sunburst Chair will carry you up the mountain with your bike, leaving you breathless because of the scenery, not the uphill climb! Ride any of 26 bike trails home as you descend through 600 meters of vertical back to the village of Sun Peaks and it’s welcoming selection of patio restaurants ready to serve you. World Class Golf:

Tucked in the valley between Mts.Tod and Morrisey, the Sun Peaks Resort Golf Course is one of the most stunning, naturally scenic golf courses in British Columbia. The 18-hole course, designed by Graham Cooke, follows the natural terrain of McGillvary Creek to pose a challenging yet immensely enjoyable golf experience. Golfers at Sun Peaks are often required to share the course with the areas abundant wildlife, including bears, and have no choice but to stop and smell the delicate alpine flowers that litter the landscape. This truly is one of B.C.’s hidden gems. With the Sun Peaks Golf Course extending through Sun Peaks Village, the Hearthstone and Fireside Lodges are ideally situated for easy access to your tee time.
